Enroll in IT Field Services (ITFS)

IT Field Services (ITFS) provides support for UCSF-owned desktops, laptops, and mobile devices. Enrolling in ITFS support ensures that your devices are compliant with UCSF's minimum security standards. It also satisfies many of the security controls required in research agreements.

Services

IT Field services has two levels of service:

  • Basic: Basic support includes Microsoft Office licensing, anti-virus/anti-spyware software, patch management, file storage, hardware support, software troubleshooting, and more.
  • Premium: Premium Desktop Support includes all services provided by the Basic Desktop Support, with differentiators that increase the overall scope, flexibility, quality, and responsiveness of the service.
  • Hourly support*: For anything that is not covered by the service catalog for Basic or Premium services, you can purchase hourly support. Please submit your Event Support request at least 3 business days in advance of the event.

All UCSF staff and faculty are automatically enrolled into this service based on their title codes unless they fall under the policy on Exemption from IT Services. Postdocs and students are automatically excluded unless their department decides to pay for them to receive the service.

  • Postdocs and students who access sensitive data should be enrolled in ITFS.
  • ITFS costs (Basic or Premium) are an allowable expense and can be charged to NIH and other grants.
  • Enrollment in ITFS support ensures that many common security requirements in research and data sharing agreements are met.
