It is important that your mobile device is secured and encrypted to protect against any data loss in the event your device is lost or stolen. In order to comply with UCSF's minimum security standards, mobile devices (mobile phones and tablets) must use a PIN to unlock phones or tablets and have the ability to be remotely wiped. Enrolling your mobile device in Microsoft's Intune Company Portal ensures its compliance with UCSF's security standards.
Services
Intune Company Portal: Intune is an application that protects your mobile device while also protecting your privacy. It enforces and periodically reports on your device’s configuration to ensure alignment with UCSF's minimum security standards (though UCSF cannot collect your personal data). Installing Intune helps to enforce the following:
- Device PIN required
- Device encryption required
- Ability to remotely wipe upon loss/theft only
- Operating system version compliance check for minimum version requirements (Review prerequisites at: https://it.ucsf.edu/how-to/intune-frequently-asked-questions)
