Encrypt your personal computer

Encryption is the process of encoding information so that only authorized persons can read it. This protects confidential data. Encrypting your device is an important step in keeping your data secure. Keep in mind that in order to use the UCSF network, your computer must first meet UCSF’s Minimum Security Standards, which requires device encryption. All devices used for UCSF business, research, and studies must be encrypted.

Directions

  1. Visit Encrypt your Computer and follow the instructions to encrypt your computer.
  2. Contact the IT Service Desk (415-514-4100) for help encrypting your computer.
