Share large datasets with external collaborators

When sharing data with external collaborators, it is important to do so in a secure manner. UCSF provides an efficient, reliable, and secure way to share large datasets with external collaborators through Globus

Services

Globus is a non-profit service for moving, syncing, and sharing large amounts of data. Globus lets you share data on your storage systems with collaborators at other institutions. Whether your files live in Wynton HPCUCSF Box, or your laptop, you can manage this data from anywhere via just a web browser.​

To perform a file transfer, both ends must have a Globus CollectionSeveral UCSF departments and services, provide Globus Collection. This allows your data to be transferred to any other Globus user in the world.

  1. Follow directions to Setup Globus Collections - In order to perform a file transfer from one location to another using the Globus service, both ends must have a Collection.

If you ever need to remove a shared Globus Collection, log into Globus, go to ‘Collections’ and then ‘Administered by You’. Click on the shared Collection and then ‘Delete Collection’. email [email protected] to let them know you’ve deleted the Collection.
