UCSF's Research Analysis Environment (RAE) is a secure data hosting and compute service available to all UCSF students, faculty, staff, and any non-UCSF collaborators who are sponsored by a member of our community. RAE provides research teams with a professionally managed, secure, collaborative environment in which to manage files containing sensitive data.
Formerly known as MyResearch, RAE offers secure hosting for sensitive data with web-based management and collaboration tools including support for study-specific large datasets and AWS resource options. Use RAE to:
- View, manipulate, and save data entirely in a protected environment without storing files on personal computers
- Get free access to research software applications, such as SAS, Stata, SPSS, R, TreeAge, Atlas.ti, MS Office, and Matlab - see full list
- Access collaboration tools, such as SharePoint, to facilitate the conduct of multi-site research studies
Services
RAE is available in two product tiers:
- RAE Free (meets most researchers' needs)
- Use for smaller studies, internal and external collaboration, and/or performance around a desktop
- RAE Premium
- Use for high performance, dedicated non-shared storage and compute, and/or larger or increased performance storage
